NC update training is required for license renewal each year. Licensees must take this NC Board developed training course from an approved sponsor and instructor.
All NC Licensed home inspectors are required to take this course live

What is the 2025 NC Update Training?
Each year the NC Home Inspector Licensure Board selects a topic for the update course. They oversee the course development and make sure it’s available to all NC licensed home inspectors through approved training sponsors and instructors.
Do I have to take the NC Update Course?
Yes, if you intend to renew your license you must take the NC update training either in-person or through a live webinar from a NCHILB approved training sponsor and instructor. CASA Training Academy is both an approved sponsor and uses approved instructors.
How does this differ from mandatory training?
Sometimes the NC update course is referred to as the mandatory training or mandatory update training. There is only one course and it is same whether it’s called update or mandatory training.
Does the course differ with the training provider?
The course content is provided by the NCHILB and the same content is used by all training providers. All approved sponsors must be trained by the course developer and meet the requirement of the NCHLIB to become an update training sponsor and instructor. As with anything, there will be differences in individual teaching styles but the content is the same.
Is CASA an approved training sponsor?
Yes CASA Training Academy is an NCHILB approved training sponsor HS140 and uses approved instructors to teach the NC update course
Do you offer this course in different formats and locations?
Yes, to provide you with the best training experience we offer the NC Update training course both live in-person and live online webinar formats. In-person training is offered at various locations across North Carolina.
What if I miss the update training deadline?
All continuing education training must be completed before September 10th of each year. License renewal is due on or before September 30th. If you miss the training deadline we schedule make up sessions for the required update training usually during the first few weeks of October. Check our schedule for updates and details. A late fee will apply when you renew your license with the NCHILB.

Refunds are for course registration fees only and we are not responsible for travel or related cost should we find it necessary to cancel a training course.

During the training we’ll take several breaks to recharge, socialize and grab a snack.
Feel free to bring your own snacks and refreshments if you desire.

Access is dependent on the meeting location and venue. Please send us your requests at least 21 days prior to the event to allow sufficient time for planning if necessary
